By Drake Skleba

No. 4 Foreman's 6-foot-2 senior G Tommy Woolridge scored four first-quarter points as the Hornets and Public League Red North rival Von Steuben battled to an 11-11 tie after one quarter Tuesday in the first semifinal of the Proviso West Holiday Tourney.

Eight minutes later Foreman outscored the rival Panthers 20-7, led by a 16-point explosion from the sensational Woolridge, for a 31-18 halftime lead.

"I had a bad game the other day and we still won," said Woolridge. "I told my teammates I was going to bring my A game today.

"We have a real chemistry on this team. We have been together since seventh grade. This was a big win tonight."

Foreman (11-1) never looked back and coasted to a 57-37 romp of Von Steuben (8-3). Woolridge finished with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting and picked up four boards as well.

With the win the Hornets will meet No. 1 and defending Class 4A champion Young (8-0) Wednesday night.

Foreman's 6-foot-9 sixth man Donte Jones scored all 10 of his points and hauled in six rebounds in the second half.

Hornet 6-foot-5 senior Kevin Batson did not score, but pulled down 10 rebounds.

"Hey Von Steuben is our rival. They have been beating up on us for years," said Foreman head coach Terry Head. "This is sweet to finally beat up on them.

"Tommy had a great game for us tonight. All three of our guards can go crazy on any given night. My sixth man Donte Jones had a big second half.

"My kids have been wanting to play Young for three years. We will be ready."

Von Steuben was led by 6-foot-4 senior F Jamal Dantzler, who had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds,

Von Steuben will meet No. 2 Glenbrook North (11-1) for third place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
