No. 12 Marian Catholic (17-6) posted a convincing 48-33 pasting of Hinsdale Central in the final game of the 2010 McDonald's Girls Classic Monday at Willowbrook.

The Spartans were led by 5-foot-11 junior C Simone Law, who tallied 22 points and grabbed nine boards.

"We came out slow, but we picked it up in the second half to get the win," said Law. "I played well tonight against Hinsdale Central. They are a good team and I had to play hard."

Marian Catholic, behind a dozen points from Law, took a 17-15 lead into the half. Junior Jasmine Matthews (nine points) nailed three treys in the third quarter to ignite an 18-6 run and put this one away for the Spartans.

"We needed this game and it was nice to beat them again," said Matthews. "We played them here last year. We started out slow, but I hit my shots which gave us energy to pull away."

Marian Catholic's senior F Emily Kobel added seven points for the red-hot Spartans, who have won six straight and 12 of their last 14 games.

"It's been a long and great week, three wins," said Marian Catholic head coach Annie Basic. "We were tired tonight and we struggled early. Jasmine has really improved her shooting and really got us going in the third quarter. Simone gets better every game."

Hinsdale Central (12-7) was led by Stanford-bound PG Toni Kokenis. The senior scored 16 points, topped the Red Devils with eight rebounds, and handed out three assists.

Adabelle Ekechukwu contributed 10 points and seven rebounds for the Red Devils.
