Blackshear's the best

By Drake Skleba

Morgan Park's 6-foot-5 Wayne Blackshear's game-winning shot with 13 seconds in regulation left gave Morgan Park a 61-60 win over Marshall for the Chicago Public League Championship on February 19.

It was just an average game for the Louisville recruit: 29 points and 13 rebounds. What would be a career night for most high school basketball players in Illinois was just another day at the office for the sensational junior.

Blackshear led his Mustangs to a 21-6 record and a final No. 12 ranking in the 2010 Premium Preps Sweet 16.

In his final game of the 2009-2010 season Backshear scored 34 and hauled in nine rebounds in a 59-55 loss to Bogan in the Oak Lawn Class 4A Regional championship game on March 5.

With Blackshear and fantastic freshman guard Markee Williams topping four Morgan Park returnees, expect the Mustangs to be one of the top-ranked teams in Illinois in 2010-2011. And don't be surprised if at the end of next season, the mighty Mustang Blackshear again earned Premium Preps Player of the Year Award.
