Elijah Oliver (top), of Washington, controls Fenton's Antoine Bess (32-8) in first round state final action in Champaign, Ill. Oliver improved to 17-0 in his win by fall in the Class 2A 120-pound division. The winner has committted to Indiana University and was a three-time champion in Tennessee before transferring this season.




Carbondale's Cameron Caffey (39-6, top) has Antioch's Patrick Schoenfelder (43-3) in deep trouble in Class 2A's 145-pound bracket. Amazing, Schoenfelder overcame his predicament and won a 9-8 decision.





Juan Alfaro (right), of Fenton, gives all his attention to Trystyn Schoonover, of Champaign Central. Alfaro (34-4) won the 170-pound bout with a 6-3 decision.



Lakeview's Stefan Zuriz (left) muscles Tad Cravens, of Herrin, during their 182-pound bout in Champaign. Cravens improved to 36-9 with an 8-2 win. Zuriz, now 30-8 after the loss, is Lakeview's first participant at the IHSA state finals since 2006.



Kolbe O'Brien (31-11, background), of St. Charles North, tries to keep control of Sandburg's Louie Hayes (39-3) during their 106-pound match in the Class 3A bracket. Hayes advanced on the winners' side of the bracket with a 17-4 major decision.



Jason Renteria (33-2), of Oak Park and River Forest has total control of Deerfield's Kyle Clough (40-7) during their 113-pound Class 3A bout. Renteria overwhelmed his opponent with a tech fall at 4:13.




Montini's Luke Fortuna (right) lifts Paul Sewell (24-13), of Hillcrest, during their opening bout at 152 pounds. Fortuna moved to 33-6 after a pin at the 3 minute mark.



Patrick Augustyn (40-7, bottom), of Glenbard North, works hard to control Marist's Nick Lukanich in a 120-pound Class 3A tussle. Lukanich (34-9) went on to take a 3-1 decision.



Juan Blanco (28-10), of Brother Rice, grimaces to control Wheaton North's Dylan Thurston (42-6) as they battle in the Class 3A 132-pound division. Thurston moved on with a 8-3 decision.




DeKalb's Brad Green (top) keeps Michael Peters (41-8), of Quincy, flat on the mat in their Class 3A, 138-pound opening round bout. Green (38-9) advanced after an 8-3 decision.




Unbeaten Walter White (top) makes things difficult for West Aurora's Alex Gonzalez (24-8) in their Class 3A, 152-pound opening bout. White (35-0) won by an 18-5 major decision. 




Matt Rowland (left), of Willowbrook, swings Juwan Edmond (38-5), of Hinsdale Central, to the mat during their Class 3A bout at 152 pounds. Rowland (47-2) won 9-4 to advance.



Deerfield's Sage Heller (top) uses his legs to help control the action against Mt. Carmel's David Rojas (39-7). Rojas turned the tables and ended the bout early with a fall of Heller (43-6) in 4:27 to advance at 160 pounds in Class 3A.




Alan Durham (bottom), of Oak Forest, locks on to Andre Gordon (14-10), of Centennial, during their opening Class 2A bout at 120 pounds. Durham up his record to 40-6 with the fall at 4:28.
